Assessors approve FY27 budget, establish Director hiring timeline

BELCHERTOWN — Board of Assessors approves FY27 budget and outlines Director hiring under new authority. The Board approved the FY27 office budget with a $200 increase after adjusting line items for mapping services and consulting services due to pending vacancy. Under a recent bylaw amendment, Town Manager Steve Williams will hire the new Director of Assessments subject to Select Board approval, replacing the Board's historic appointment power.
Vice Chair Craig Tommila and Chair Loring Caney will participate in the search; finalists are expected to be selected in February with a mid-March start date.
