Belchertown Energy Committee welcomes new member, reports EV progress

BELCHERTOWN — The Belchertown Energy and Sustainability Committee approved prior minutes and welcomed new member Mim Plavin Masterman at its February 19 meeting. The Transportation subcommittee reported public EV charging stations now active on three national locator apps, with 18 sessions in January and 14 so far in February generating $68.44 in revenue and 367 pounds of CO2 emissions saved across both months; the town awaits AmpUP account setup to receive held revenue. The Energy subcommittee, led by John Piekara and Chris Bambacas, reported Belchertown Community Energy Choice delivered $527,000 in annual residential savings and 2 million pounds of CO2 avoidance, and the committee will issue a request for proposals for a three-phase rooftop solar project beginning with three buildings having relatively new roofs.
