Board confirms new director; adopts streamlined approval process

Belchertown assessors confirm new director, adopt streamlined bill-approval procedures to address membership gap. The Board of Assessors confirmed Zachary Bombard as Director of Assessments, effective March 16, and voted unanimously to adopt the Municipal Modernization Act to authorize the Chair to approve bills and warrants individually when the board operates below full membership. Chair Loring Caney and Vice Chair Craig Tommila presided.

In executive session, the board unanimously approved 14 property tax exemption applications and denied one exemption request; the board also adjusted regular meetings to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and noted that Technical Assistant Andrea Filipkowski earned a Certification in Assessment Administration designation from the Massachusetts Assessors Association.
