Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026

BELCHERTOWN — The Belchertown Select Board voted unanimously on September 28 to protect approximately $340,896 in excess state aid from being spent on operating expenses, while deferring a final allocation decision to October 5 pending school input on emergency needs. Town Manager Williams and the Town Accountant both recommended reserving the funds given uncertainty about future finances, with board members discussing potential uses including police and DPW radios, an Animal Control vehicle, and building maintenance. The Board also approved the transfer of a restaurant liquor license from Masa Mexicano LLC to Victoria Mexican Kitchen and Bar Inc., and residents raised concerns with Spectrum about inconsistent broadband service and lack of competition in rural areas; company Director Nancy Clark pledged to investigate.
