Communications Committee · Meeting of January 8, 2026
BELCHERTOWN — Communications Committee approves prior minutes and moves forward on social media policy. In a January 8 meeting in Town Hall, Chair Chris Martin and Vice Chair Ed Comeau voted unanimously, with Clerk Allegra Giovine and Lew Louraine present, to approve December minutes; Communications Manager Kate Nadeau was asked to draft a comment moderation policy for the town's social media pages, balancing First Amendment principles with enforcement of spam and violence-threat removal. BCTV General Manager Esther Glovacki reported a soft launch of Select Board livestreaming to Facebook drew 22 concurrent viewers and 200 total views, and the committee discussed leveraging video explainers during the upcoming budget season with Select Board guidance on approval workflows.
The town newsletter has grown to roughly 550 subscribers, and approximately 900 residents have enrolled in emergency alerts.
