Belchertown Community Preservation Committee defers decision on Sports Haven grant pending a February 17 presentation. Committee member Megan Manitsas coordinated with Steve Williams to secure Erika Johnson of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, who will address the committee's detailed questions about closing the project's 774,000-dollar funding gap and whether housing costs comply with Community Preservation Act guidelines. Committee member Wilbur Quirk reported that bleachers do not qualify for funding under the act; Committee Chair Jim Natle will request Town Council guidance.
The committee's straw poll indicated support for Clapp Memorial Library, Conservation of Map, Gravestone restoration, and Metacomet Hills, but no support for Piper Farm Purchase or Greenway project.
