Conservation Commission Approves Three Residential Wetlands Projects

Belchertown Conservation Commission approved three residential projects with environmental conditions.

Conservation Commission · Meeting of July 20, 2026

Belchertown Conservation Commission approved three residential projects with environmental conditions. At 35 Lake Drive, the commission cleared an accessory dwelling unit for applicant Ken Kozlik on condition that driveways use gravel instead of brick pavers where connecting to the town right-of-way, and that stormwater storage capacity be expanded by 80 percent. At 52 Summit Street, the commission approved Paul Desroches' replacement of a failed septic system, to be located 79 feet from a Bordering Vegetated Wetland.

At 121 Gulf Road, Loren Walker's conversion of a deck to an enclosed mudroom was approved with conditions on foundation replacement and erosion control. The commission also continued a Springfield Water and Sewer Commission flood mitigation project affecting the Jabish Canal watershed, which supplies the Springfield Reservoir, to August 17 for further discussion of grant opportunities and future replacement of a deteriorated culvert.
