Council on Aging discusses budget updates and new programming initiatives

BELCHERTOWN — Council on Aging approves programming guidelines and discusses new van for center. The board met March 25 with Select Board Liaison Nicole Miner reporting the town's balanced budget will support a new van for the senior center as part of a five-year capital improvements plan. Executive Director Jessica Langlois clarified that those under 60 can attend programs but must pay for lunch, while those 60-plus pay a donation.

The council discussed addressing a volunteer shortage across town boards, with possible partnerships for student volunteers through school honor societies.
