Belchertown Council on Aging backs $50K climate housing trust. The board unanimously endorsed a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness grant program seeding a $50,000 housing trust to assist vulnerable homeowners facing climate-related challenges, rejecting a proposed community center use of the funds after learning that even preliminary plans would cost $20,000 to $30,000. COA Director Jessica Langlois reported that the Meals on Wheels program approved a $9.50 per hour wage for a fill-in driver following a driver resignation, matching the pay of newly hired permanent drivers.
The council agreed to alert seniors in the newsletter to recent U.S. Postal Service mail processing delays that route Belchertown mail through Hartford, Connecticut, creating potential delays for tax returns and bill payments.
