BELCHERTOWN — Historic District By-Law Commission rejects backlit LED sign application at 4 Park Street. The commission voted unanimously to deny the Certificate of Appropriateness sought by Mass Signs LLC for property owner Andre's LLC, with applicant Adam Niska unable to secure commission approval for internally illuminated replacement signs funded by Coca-Cola. Jonathan Speigel noted that 1990s district guidelines required conversion of internal illumination to exterior lighting within three years and questioned options for achieving full compliance; members cited nearby exterior-illuminated signs meeting the standard.

The applicant may resubmit with alternative designs.
