Historical Commission approves November minutes, discusses grants and preservation projects.

Historical Commission · Meeting of January 27, 2026

BELCHERTOWN — The Belchertown Historical Commission approved November 2025 minutes and advanced several preservation initiatives. Cemetery stone restoration received $9,800 in Community Preservation Committee funding, while a $25,000 administrative request for the Greenway rail trail project was denied. Commission members noted the availability of grants through a newly hired town grants coordinator, Dawn Cote.

A proposal to form a Historical Theater Society was placed on hold in favor of planning a 250th celebration, potentially coordinated with July Food Truck Friday or a Farmer's Marketing Sunday event.
