Lakes Committee approves Metacomet lake treatment, seeks Tri-Lakes funding support.

Lake Committee · Meeting of February 10, 2026

Belchertown Lakes Committee approves spring Metacomet treatment at $9,000 cost. Treasurer John Soja reported the committee will request $7,000 from the Tri-Lakes Watershed Association to offset a budget shortfall, leaving a $2,000 gap. Treatment of lakes Holland and Arcadia is also scheduled for spring/summer 2026, with phosphorus testing planned for Holland following a three-month algae-related closure in 2025.

The committee unanimously approved January meeting minutes. Member Jeff Oldenburg resigned; his resignation will be forwarded to the Select Board for posting of the vacancy. The next meeting is scheduled for March 3, 2026.
