Recreation Committee approves motion to adjourn; no formal votes on substantive matters.

Recreation Committee · Meeting of January 15, 2026

Belchertown Recreation Committee heard updates on three failed or pending Community Preservation Act grants. Committee member Kyle Thibeault reported that a CPA grant for bleachers was rejected, a multi-purpose field grant drew proximity concerns, and a Smith property grant (estimated at approximately half a million dollars for site work) prompted discussion of hiking use instead. Thibeault will meet with Grant Coordinator Dawn Cote to revamp a previously denied PARC grant; the new program offers a $100,000 town grant with 68 percent reimbursement.

The Recreation Department received a $2,000 donation from Country Bank toward four new $4,000 pool blocks and submitted a Capital Improvement request to remodel the bathhouse at Town Beach.
