Select Board approves Pepper Ridge Road as public way, housing trust bylaw, and union health insurance agreement.

Select Board · Meeting of April 6, 2026

Belchertown Select Board approves Pepper Ridge Road and union health insurance deal. The Board voted 4-0-0 to accept the road as a public way following a public hearing where Town Manager Steven J. Williams and Director of Public Works Linda Leduc addressed resident questions.

Separately, Town Manager Williams reported that the Hampshire County Group Insurance Trust received $2.2 million in CVS rebates and $220,000 in stop-loss reimbursements in March, far exceeding the $400,000 budget. The Board unanimously endorsed a Memorandum of Agreement with four town unions requiring the town to distribute 25 percent of anticipated health insurance savings to employees as a one-time premium reduction. Chair Lesa Lessard Pearson abstained from voting on the Housing Trust By-Law due to her role on the MVP 2.0 team, and the bylaw passed 3-0-1.
