Select Board Endorses Primary Election Warrant, Sets Special Town Meeting for November

BELCHERTOWN — Select Board approves primary warrant and November special town meeting. Chair Whitney Jorns Kuhnlenz and members approved the November 9 Special Town Meeting with warrant submissions due September 24, endorsed the Primary Election Warrant, and voted unanimously to disband the Buildings and Grounds Committee effective immediately. The board also approved conveyance of a town-owned parcel to the Belchertown Economic Development Industrial Corporation.

Danielle Chaplick of HILB Group reported the Hampshire County Group Insurance Trust closed fiscal year 2026 with approximately seven million dollars in reserves and projects continued rebuilding during FY27. The board voted 4-0-0 to finalize FY27 goals and objectives, with member Jennifer D Turner abstaining due to concerns about the document's fluidity, and unanimously approved limiting temporary event signs on the Town Common to two weeks before the event with one sign per event.
