Planning Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Belchertown Planning Board sends industrial zoning changes to Town Meeting, endorses Cottage Street lot split 5-0. Vice Chair Elizabeth Pols and Town Planner Doug Albertson untangled ownership records on a Cottage Street ANR for Margaret and Stephen Lanphear before the board's 5-0-0 endorsement of the plan, which shifts land between a family trust and Cottage Grove LLC. The board added a special permit requirement for new commercial parking areas and garages in industrial zones before unanimously recommending the schedule-of-uses amendment to Town Meeting.

"Doug was right when he said it wasn't as complicated as it looked," Pols said. Members also paid a $171.50 advertising bill, approved August 25 minutes, and heard updates on stalled Woodland Lane flood-repair documentation and a new town economic development planner, Eric Weiss.
