Board approves septic waiver, fee changes
Board of Health · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Belchertown Board of Health approves a septic waiver and revised 2027 fee schedule, tables a pesticide rule. Members voted 4-0 to grant a local upgrade approval letting Josh Tatro install a tight tank system with a 26-foot well setback at 64 Muscle Road, engineered by Chris Stoddard. The board also adopted updated department fees effective January 1, 2027, raising the landlord rental-inspection fee from $75 to $150 and adding an optional $50 pre-rental check, projected to add about $3,000 in annual revenue.
Separately, the board postponed a draft pesticide and hazardous-chemicals regulation after Wayland's health board warned its own 1982 version proved unenforceable; member Gail Gramarossa said she's "more comfortable with publicly owned property only." The board also amended a June 22 vote to tie the animal inspector's mileage reimbursement to the town's standard travel policy.
