Planning Board rejects ANR over disputed ownership, seeks probate documentation
Planning Board · Meeting of August 25, 2026
BELCHERTOWN — Planning Board blocks revised Lot Identification Plan for Hamilton Street property pending probate and attorney documentation. Chair Dan Beaudette cited Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 190B, Section 3-102, stating the Board could not approve the Bronner family application without proof that title had passed through probate court and a written legal opinion from counsel. Surveyor Randy Izer agreed to a two-week extension to secure the attorney's opinion; the Board voted 4-0 to approve prior minutes and 4-0 to adjourn.
In informal discussion, resident Melissa Hibler presented plans for a dog grooming shed and candle business; the Board determined the grooming operation falls under the Zoning Enforcement Officer's purview rather than requiring Board approval.
