Select Board adopts hazard mitigation plan, endorses two conservation land purchases

BELCHERTOWN — Select Board adopts hazard mitigation plan and conservation land purchases totaling $232,000. Chair Whitney Jorns Kuhnlenz led unanimous approval of the Belchertown Hazard Mitigation Plan 2026 Update, which had been submitted to Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency for final review. The Board separately endorsed $112,000 and $120,000 contribution agreements with Massachusetts Audubon Society for the Boyce and Mahall-Walker property acquisitions, which will provide passive recreation opportunities.

Members also unanimously approved a $148,000 Community Preservation Committee grant for the Belchertown Little League's Mini Fenway improvements, with Jonathan Ritter abstaining due to his involvement with the Little League.
