Belchertown Select Board Forwards Cold Spring Country Club Liquor License to State

BELCHERTOWN -- July 6, 2026, Belchertown Select Board forwards Cold Spring Country Club liquor license and adopts town communications plan at July 6 session. The board voted 3-0, with one abstention, to advance an annual on-premise all-alcoholic beverage license for Cold Spring Country Club Management LLC at 330 Chauncey Walker Street to the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, with attorney Rich Maynard representing the applicant and operator Willie Guy present; board members noted that placing the license with the property owners rather than a rotating restaurant tenant ends years of regulatory instability at the site. A separate 3-0 vote approved a one-day liquor license for the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce's 23rd annual golf tournament at the same venue on July 17, with Four Seasons Wine and Liquor managing the cash bar and a portion of proceeds benefiting Friends of Lake Wallace. The board unanimously approved a 14-page town communications plan more than a year in development, correcting an internal error that misidentified the communications manager's supervisor and adding language making a full-time expansion of the position contingent on available funding. The board also authorized grant applications for a $70,000 park surface at Chestnut Hill Recreation Area and a $425,000 land grant for the Boyce property, endorsed a deed transfer bringing a steep-slope Lake Wallace trail parcel from EDIC ownership to the town, and referred a contested National Grid pole placement on Old Enfield Road back to the Department of Public Works after a right-of-way dispute could not be resolved at the hearing.
